Nursery Update December 2013
Welcome to December’s update at Butterflies…..
This month we were delighted to host our French Breakfast morning on Friday 6th December from 7.30am-8.30am. We served hot coffee, croissants and jams accompanied by a little Edith Piaf to soothe everyone before a hectic day at work! Parents that have access to out Parent Portal can view all the photos of the morning which we all thoroughly enjoyed!
Christmas Sing-along Show
The nursery was buzzing with excitement at the prospect of our Christmas celebrations. We practised Christmas songs and rhymes for a Sing-a-long Show on 12th December to which all parents were invited. We will commence with the Babies and Toddlers Medley at 9.30am and conclude with the Pre-schoolers French and English songs at 10.00am. Parents are invited to join us and partake in mince pies and some (non-alcoholic) mulled wine. Please feel free to bring along any cakes, fruit or drink to celebrate the occasion. Parents may wish to take photographs of their children at this event and we will be asking permission of all parents on the day. If you will not be able to attend and do not want your child included in any photographs please let us know beforehand.
Reminders to Parents – Christmas Closure
We will be open on the 24th December but children will need to be collected by 2.30 pm on that day. We will re-open after the festive period on 2nd January at our usual opening time.
Upcoming Events for the New Year:
Do you need help to recycle any old, used or unwanted Christmas decorations, crackers, wrapping paper, little boxes or ribbons and bows? Well we are here to help with our free recycling service! We will be happy to use all your unwanted items in our creative activities during the coming year. Please feel free to drop off any donations you may have for circulation around the nursery.
Chinese New Year
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year at the end of January 2014. Hopefully we will be utilising all that is red and gold from your donated recyclable materials to make horses, dragons and fans to celebrate the occasion. The Babies and Toddlers will be playing with noodles in our sensory play and the Pre-school children will explore eating noodles with chopsticks and listen to the story of the Great Race amongst a host of other activities.
We have been creating a photographic display of the children and their families in each room. If you are able to take some family photographs over the festive period we would appreciate a photograph of your child with their family. This will encourage the Babies to recognise and name members of their families, inspire discussion amongst the Toddlers and Pre-schoolers about people who are special to them and forge links between home and nursery.
