Nursery Update July 2013

We are hoping that with the start of July we may get some lovely sunny weather so have decided our monthly theme this month will be Summer.

Babies

The babies will enjoy taking part in lots of summer activities including decorating lots of different items we take to the seaside including buckets, spades and beach balls. They will be decorating ice cream cones with colourful glitter and creating different sea creatures we might see at the beach including fish and crabs. They will be using boxes in the garden as boats and singing ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ and the ‘The sun has got his hat on’.

Toddlers

Toddlers will be using paint to decorate buckets, spades and beach balls for their summer display. They will use shaving foam painting to decorate ice cream cones and use sand, glitter and glue to create sand pictures. They will look at summer holidays and will enjoy role playing in the travel agents and the ice cream shop. They will use pictures from travel brochures to create a holiday collage and will decorate planes and ferry boats. They will have the opportunity to make their own passports and fill their suitcases with pictures of items they take on holiday. They will make fruit ice lollies, enjoy water play in the garden and flying kites at the park.

Pre-School

The pre-school will enjoy lots of creative activities, including creating bubble wrap pictures of the sea, using sand, glitter and glue to create sand pictures and using shaving foam painting to make colourful ice creams. They will incorporate maths by decorating beach balls using colour sorting. They will look at summer holidays and discuss where they’ve been on holiday during circle time and look at their holiday photos. They will make their own passports and suitcases which they can fill with items they take on holiday. They will design their own colourful beach towels and use their fine motor skills to cut and stick pictures from travel brochures. They will make fruit ice lollies, enjoy water play in the garden and flying kites at the park.
