They will be playing with boats in their water tray and wheeled vehicles in their sand pit and they will enjoy constructing and playing with the train track. They will be painting lots of different vehicles to make a lovely display in their room and they will be making vehicle mobiles to hang up around their room.
Toddlers and Pre-School
In the Toddler room and Pre-School room we have decided to look at transport on land, transport at sea and transport in the sky.
The Toddlers will be making 3D vehicles using junk modelling and will incorporate mathematics by using different shapes to make vehicles. They will be painting and making line patterns using vehicles dipped in paint. They will be looking at different types of vehicles by looking at their vehicles poster and transport book. They will enjoy singing songs to do with transport including ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ and ‘I’m a Little Airplane’. The children will be looking at road safety by looking at traffic lights and will be using a big traffic light to help them with sorting out colours. The children will enjoy using their water tray as a car wash to wash all their wheeled vehicles.
The children in pre-school will be painting various vehicles for their display board in their room which will include making colourful pictures of hot air balloons, trains, aeroplanes and boats. They will be making 3D vehicles using junk modelling; they will make airplanes using lollipop sticks and boats using their hand prints During circle time they will discuss the different vehicles that we use on land, at sea and in the sky. They will use wheeled vehicles dipped in paint to paint on paper and will use the wheels of large vehicles to paint on large bits of paper in the garden. The children will role play a car wash in the garden to wash all the vehicles. We will incorporate mathematics by playing the ‘car park game’ using numbers and ‘load the trucks’ using counting. The children will also enjoy going on a listening walk to listen out for all the types of transport they can hear outside.
